A: Our storefront is at 160 Plaistow Rd in Plaistow, NH. We're in the plaza with the green awnings, near Stillwell's Ice Cream, Early Bird Café, and next door to Moe's Sandwiches.
Q: What are your hours?
A: We are open Wednesday - Saturday from 10am - 5pm and Sunday 12pm - 5pm. We also take appointments on Monday and Tuesday, so you can contact us at 603.479.3041.
Q: What does Better Than Before Home Furnishings & Design do?
A: BTB is a small, local business that has a mission to help homeowners fall in love with their homes again.
• Our storefront offers reclaimed and painted furnishings and new and gently-used home décor as well as specialty décor items from local artisans.
• We also offer decorating services to help homeowners put together a beautiful design for their space.
• If you have an existing piece of furniture that needs TLC, we will custom paint it for you.
• If you're looking for just the right piece, we can help you to find it.
Q: Are you an interior designer?
A: I'm not a designer, but a decorator. I have a certificate in Interior Decorating.
Q: What is the difference between an interior decorator and designer?
A: The most simple definition I use to describe the difference is that a designer manages changes to the structure of a space, whereas a decorator comes in when any renovation is complete and makes things pretty with furnishings and décor. A decorator can also help choosing colors and finishes.
Q: How much do you charge for decorating services?
A: There are a few ways you can work with us. See our Decorating Services page here to see options and pricing.
Q: Do you work with contractors for painting, countertops, window treatments, and other services and products?
A: I have a list of businesses that I refer to clients. I will consult with a client in order to make decisions (i.e. colors, finishes, materials), but do not get involved in managing the project with the contractor.
Q: I have a piece of furniture that needs some TLC. Do you refinish furniture?
A: I paint furniture. I have vendors that I refer for stripping and/or re-staining furniture.
Q: What type of paint do you use?
A: I use chalk paint for my projects. A sealer can be applied for additional protection and/or sheen.
Q: I'm looking for a specific piece of furniture. How often do you bring new pieces to the shop?
A: I bring in new pieces every week! I also keep a client "Wish List" of items to look out for as I'm shopping.
