I don't know whether it's the colors in this bathroom, but I was drawn to this room immediately. Green and red are complementary colors, and used in the same color palette, each makes the other color "pop," so it very well could be the colors. However, after I started to look around this room, I noticed so many wonderful things. This bathroom is dressed up more like a dining room and I love it!
Who puts a hutch in the bathroom?! Not me, but who's to say it's wrong? If it works, use it. If I were staging this home to sell, however, I would never do this, but for the homeowner who finds function in it, then it's perfect. And what a conversation piece!
The second thing I noticed was the ladder holding towels. It's not a large bathroom, so vertical storage is key, and a ladder is a perfect solution for an interesting, but functional element. With its small, open frame, the old, metal chair is an item that has little visual weight and fits perfectly beside the tub serving its purpose without taking up a lot of space.
Have you noticed the chandelier? Any time I see a chandelier over a bathtub, I can't help but love it. And the gorgeous mirror on the wall above the tub serves to give the small bathroom more depth so that it looks larger than it is.
Home decorating is very subjective. I always say, 'If you love something, buy it and find a place for it.' Your home should be filled with pieces you love or items that evoke certain feelings or memories. It's your home and it should make you comfortable and content. Of course, there are design principles that apply when furnishing and decorating any space, but if you're creative enough, there's a place for just about anything, so have fun!
