Beyond the Basics - de-cluttering
If you're like me, you probably have several areas in your home that you need to de-clutter–closets, toy room, garage... It's overwhelming. As long as you know where you want to be, you can make a plan to get there.
One great tip is to start with your least favorite or messiest space. If you can tackle that one first, then the rest won't be so bad. Be sure to have three bags or boxes on hand. One will be used for items to keep, one for anything that will be donated/sold, and one for trash.
Start with tabletops and all flat surfaces and clear them off, putting every piece you find into one of the bags/boxes. Think of your space as split into quadrants and work on one at a time, not moving on to the next until one is completely finished.
Once you have finished with your space, be sure to toss the trash right away so you won't be tempted to fish anything out. Don't wait very long to donate or sell the items you put aside either.
Now that you've finished your most challenging space, the rest won't be so bad!
