Have you always loved the elegance of a four-poster bed with flowing fabric draped around the columns? As a child, I wanted a canopy bed in the worst way. And as an adult I'm Jonesing for a four-poster bed. For one reason or another, I haven't ended up with the style bed I really want, but I have a solution. I can fake it!
Take a good look at these photos and notice that the beds are nothing more than a regular mattress with (or without) a headboard. Rods have been attached to the ceiling and/or walls above the bed in a way that, with some lovely fabric, you can mimic the look and feel of a four-poster, or even a canopy, bed. Change out the fabric for the seasons with light, flowy sheers in the summer and darker, heavier drapery in the colder seasons. To me, this look says not only elegance and comfort, but also mystery, privacy and a hint of 16th century royalty. What do you think?
