Using a cake plate is a great way to present a lovely home-made cake or dessert. But most of us don't have baked goodies on display every day. So what do you do with the cake plate in the meantime?

Put your cake plate to good use in its time off from showcasing scrumptious sweets and store your dinner or dessert plates on it. An old bird cage placed over the top makes an interesting statement and can be a lovely addition to a dining room buffet or hutch.
