Beyond the Basics - holiday decorating

Are you ready for a new mantelscape but don't have the funds to buy new items? No worries. Find things around your house and carry a theme throughout–color, type of item, etc.

In this example, a fleece blanket acts as a mantel runner, mittens hang from clips, a pair of ice skates and some holiday decorations fill in the rest of the space.

It doesn't take a lot of money, but it does take a bit of imagination. Have fun with it and think out of the box to make a one-of-a-kind design.
