Building a business is tougher than I thought. I assumed there would be a lot of work involved, but trying to figure out how to define and market the business has proven to be the most difficult of all. I know what I do, and what I like to do, but does everyone else really understand what it is?
With the help of some friends, I have been able to step back and look at things like a potential client. Hmmm... Functional Home Designs. 'Sounds like some sort of service for my house,' is probably what most people are thinking. But what kind of service? Functional is the operative word. I'm aiming to make your house functional–creatively and at no cost/low cost.
My goal is to make each room in your home have a purpose and make it work for you. Yes, I decorate, but I like to use what you already have before you go out and buy new pieces. A beautifully-decorated house that is not organized or functional doesn't make a lot of sense. So my focus is function first, then pretty comes next.
Sometimes it just takes another set of eyes to look at your house objectively. Many times you know the direction in which you want to go but just need a plan in order to get there. I will consult with you and come up with that plan. I'll roll up my sleeves and move furniture. And I'll shop.
And that's what Functional Home Designs is all about.
